C section prophylactic antibiotics regimen?
A
- IV cefazolin 1g given within 60 mins prior to skin incision (IV cefazolin 2g for patients with BW>80kg)
- If patient has penicillin allergy: clindamycin 600-900mg IV, or erythromycin 500mg IV
If procedure lasts >4 hours or estimated blood loss >1500ml, an additional dose of prophylactic antibiotic given after the initial dose.
