What is the key function of the occipital lobe?
A
It is almost exclusively devoted to processing & interpreting visual sensory information.

What are the effects of damage to to occipital lobe?
A
The predominant outcome for damage to this area of the brain is blindness. There can also be impairment to perception of color, shape, size and distance.

What is the primary visual cortex?
A
It is the final destination of visual information received from both eyes. It also has specialized cells that respond to shape/ color/ direction of lines etc.
