What is the midbrain?
A
The midbrain is the central part of the brain and connects the forebrain to the hindbrain. It contains the reticular formation.

What is the reticular formation’s function(s)?
A
It screens incoming information to avoid the brain from being overloaded. It alerts relevant brain centers to important information. It also maintains consciousness and regulates arousal.

What does the midbrain do?
A
It is involved in movement, processing visuals, auditory, tactile information, sleep and arousal.
