Observational Learning
A
- watching a model’s behaviour and its consequences and uses it to guide their own behaviour
- learning can remain latent and can occur without direct experience
e.g. seeing someone get drunk and vomit and learning not to get drunk

- Attention - learning must actively watch model
- Retention - mental representation of learnt behaviour stored in memory
- Reproduction - physical/intellectual ability to reproduce the behaviour
- Motivation - wanting to imitate the behaviour
- Reinforcement - likelihood to imitate the behaviour because of a good result

- the model - parent praised child for imitating their behaviour
- third person - child praised by teacher for imitating the behaviour
- personal - child feels good about his behaviour
- vicariously - child sees parent receive praise by another adult for the behaviour and then wanting to imitate the behaviour
