CC vs OC vs OL Flashcards
CC vs OC
(5)
Classical Conditioning
- learner is passive
- response is involuntary (autonomic nervous system)
- stimulus –> response
- interstimulus interval must be close together in time
- association of stimulus
Operant Conditioning
- learner is active
- response is voluntary (central nervous system)
- stimulus –> response –> stimulus
- consequence and behaviour can be apart in time
- association of behaviour and consequence
OL vs OC
(2)
Operant Conditioning
- direct experience when learning
- evidence of learning is observable
- does not require role of cognition in learning (thinking and memory)
Observational Learning
- does not require direct experience when learning (vicarious)
- evidence of learning may not be observable as learning can remain latent
- does require role of cognition (in the attention and retention stage)
OL & OC
- learner is active
- response is voluntary
- behaviour is influenced by reinforcement/presence of a stimulus following the behaviour/response
