Element in the hemoglobin of red blood cells which enable them to carry oxygen
Electrolytes
Mineral; critical for everything from muscle contraction and brain function
Sodium
Mineral; Aids in muscle contraction and nerve transmision; responsible for fluid retention
Osmoreceptors
Trigger the thirst centers in the brain to create the sensation of thirst
Heat exhaustion
Less serious than a heat stroke; symptoms include headache, dizziness, cramping, rapid/shallow breathing
Heat stroke
Very high body temperature, no sweating or difficulty breathing
