Sounds heard in percussion
Resonance, hyperrresonance, tympany, dullness, flatness
Diaphragm, stethoscope
for high pitched sounds. Breath, bowel and normal heart sounds
Bell, stethoscope
for soft, low-pitched sounds. Extra heart sounds
ABCDE of Moles
Asymmetrical Border Irregularity Color Variation Diameter - greater than 6mm Elevation and enlargement
Edema grades
1+ mild pitting, slight indentation; no perceptible swelling
2+ moderate pitting; indentation subsides rapidly
3+ deep pitting; indentation remains for a short time; let looks swollen
4+ very deep pitting; indentation last a long time; leg is very swollen
Resonance
Sound heard in hollow areas like lungs
Hyperresonance
Booming Sound. Heard in children and emphysema patients
Tympany
Drum like sound. Heard on stomach and intestines
Dullness
Muffled Thud. Heard at liver and dense organs
