Nuclear pharmacist requirements
Be certified by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or have 200 contact hours of didactic education in nuclear pharmacy and a minimum of 500 hours of clinical nuclear pharmacy training under the supervision of a certified nuclear pharmacist/nuclear pharmacy residency/equivalent
Nuclear pharmacy special requirements
Basic requirements of a normal pharmacy, plus requirements set by 10 NYCRR Part 16 AND 12 NYCRR Part 38 AND:
Laminar flow hood
Dose calibrator
Exhaust hood and filter system
Chromatography apparatus
Apparatus or materials for the determination of pH
Single-channel and/or multichannel scintillation detection system
Microscope
What happens if a pharmacy dispenses regular meds and radioactive meds?
It has to have a separate area for the radioactive meds when it comes to storage and dispensing that’s secured from unauthorized personnel
