Lie: Feeding the hurt and bitterness will insure that the wicked people who hurt me will pay for their crimes. I have to make them pay because they seem to have gotten away with it.
Truth: Vengeance is God’s he will repay them if they don’t repent. Philemon 1:19 If anyone “got away” with anything it would mock God who will not be mocked. They will reap unless they repent and accept Jesus’ payment for their sins. Galatians 6:7 If I bite and devour, I will wind up being consumed myself and falling into confusion and evil works. Galatians 5:15, James 3:14-16
Lie: Oh, woe is me! No one understands my hurt, I have been hurt far more than most people. So someone somewhere needs to fix my hurt and take care of me. I can’t be expected to help others and do my part.
Truth: There is no trial that I have faced or am facing that many others have faced the same or worse and God is faithful and will help me in this trial avoid the sin of bitterness or the sin of knowing what to do and not doing it. I Corinthians 10:13 / James 4:17
