Normal & Skewed distributions Flashcards
1
Q
normal distribution
A
a symmetrical spread of frequency data that forms a bell-shaped curve. the mean, median and mode are the same/similar and are located at the highest peak
2
Q
skewed distribution
A
a spread of frequency data that is not symmetrical, where the data instead clusters to one end. skewed distributions suggest that the man is not a cerys representative score and shouldn’t be used as the sole measure of tendency
3
Q
positive skew
A
aka a right skew. the mean is to the right and most scores fall below the mean
4
Q
negative skew
A
aka a left skew. the mean is to the left and most scores fall above the mean
