3
Q
strengths of case studies
A
-in-depth, providing detailed info
-high validity
-useful insight into behaviour
-allow researchers to study events they couldn’t practically or ethically manipulate in an experiment
4
Q
weaknesses of case study
A
-limited sample
-usually a rare/unusual case so results can’t be generalised to whole population
-researchers can become too involved and lose objectivity (researcher bias)
-often picked up after the event so can’t establish causality
