Normal Law Flashcards

1
Q

Describe Pitch Ground mode, and Pitch Flight modes in Norm law?

A

Pitch ground mode is a direct relationship between sidestick deflection and elevator deflection. During takeoff roll, max elevator UP deflection reduced from 30 to 20degrees.
Flight mode blends in around secs after liftoff and when pitch>8degrees. Pitch becomes a load-factor demand mode with auto-trim and protection.

Q

In Norm law, on what occasions will autotrim stop functioning?

A
  1. Manual trim input
  2. <50ft RA
  3. <0.5G load factor
  4. When some NORM Law Prot are activated

Q

What is FLARE mode and when does it activate?

A

Allows airbus to be landed like conventional a/c.
Activates <50ft RA (<100ft RA A321) THS is frozen and a/c memorises attitude which becomes ref for pitch attitude control.
At 30ft system reduces attitude to -2 nose down over 8s, which requires nose-up action to flare.

Q

How can you disconnect the AP using flight controls only, and what is the effect?

A

By forcefully moving any of the flight controls. uncomfortable for pax and pitch attitude protection inhibited.

Q

In NORM law, describe lateral control in Ground mode and Flight mode:

A

Ground mode: direct relationship to side stick input. During takeoff roll, as speed increases, max deflection of ailerons & spoilers decreases.

Flight mode: Blends in air 0.5secs after lift-off, becomes a roll rate. Turns coordinated automatically through ailerons, spoilers and rudder.
