Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards
Which hydraulic system powers the NWS?
Yellow
Above what speed is the steering tiller disabled?
80kts
What effect does moving both steering tillers at the same time have on the nose wheel?
Inputs are added together and result applied to NWS.
Regarding the rudder pedal NWS relationship, at what speed does the rudder disconnect from the NWS?
130kts
Regarding NWS angles, what angles of NWS result from:
Max steering tiller deflection?
Max rudder pedal deflection?
The tow bar with the steering bypass pin inserted?
Steering tiller: 75 degrees
Rudder pedal: 6 degrees
Tow bar: 95 degrees
Describe the various types of braking on the aircraft:
Normal brakes with a/skid - Green
Alt with a/skid - Yellow
Alt without a/skid max 1000PSI - Yellow
Braking on accumulator only - Yellow
What is the limit to hydraulic braking pressure using alternate braking only?
Max 1000PSI. No a/skid so prevents wheel locking. Modulated on most modern A320s with digital brakes.
How many full braking applications from accumulator?
7
With regards auto brake, when does auto brake activate and deceleration rate for LOW, MED, MAX?
LOW: 4 secs 2m/s
MED: 2 secs 3m/s
MAX: Wheel speed > 40kts + spoilers deployed i.e. 72kts, 6m/s
What are the autobrake arming conditions?
Green HYD, A/SKID, 1 ADR
When will DECEL light illuminate?
When braking reaches 80% of selected rate.
If LOW/MED selected is there a possibility DECEL light will not illuminate?
Yes, if slippery, A/SKID may prevent reaching 80% rate of braking. Autobrake still functioning correctly.
What is the tyre limiting speed?
195kts
Memory Items for LOSS OF BRAKING?
MAX REVERSE
RELEASE BRAKES
A/SKID OFF
BRAKES MAX 1000PSI
…PARK BRAKE
What procedures pertaining to ldg gear are contained in QRH?
4 procedures
Assymetric braking
Residual braking
LDG with abnormal gear
Gravity gear extension
