Q

Affected Task Force Commanders will have the option of responding to selected EMS incidents in one of three ways:

A

Option No. 1 Consistent with past practice, all Light Force personnel and apparatus will respond to EMS incidents in the normal manner.

Option No. 2 Respond to EMS incidents with either the Truck only or 200 series Engine Company only. This option requires the Truck or 200 series Engine be staffed by the Task Force Commander, Engineer or Apparatus Operator, and two Firefighters (four total). The two members left behind shall be certified to drive and/or tiller the apparatus left behind. The two members left behind shall maintain radio watch during the duration of the incident. If the apparatus that is left behind is needed at the incident, the Task Force Commander shall request that they respond to the incident via the Division administrative channel, the dispatch channel, and/or the assigned tactical frequency.

When responding with the 200 series Engine only, the 200 series Engine’s MDC shall be utilized for all status entries. The 200 series is linked to the MDC on the Truck. All communications with MFC shall be consistent with Light Force, terminology. MDC entries on the apparatus left behind are not required.

Under these circumstances the apparatus left behind shall not respond alone to an incident unless the responding apparatus becomes available, and also responds to the same incident.

Option No. 3 Respond to EMS incidents with either the Truck only or 200 series Engine Company only as in Option No. 2, the apparatus left behind responds non-emergency to the incident.
