Preventing negative psychological outcomes requires investment in understanding thinking patterns, emotional states, and applying proactive coping strategies such as the following:

  1. Maintain a healthy diet.
  2. Prioritize sleep at a minimum of 7- 8 hours per night.
  3. Exercise at least 3 times per week.
  4. Process thoughts and emotions with trusted people such as colleagues, family, and/or friends.
  5. Psychologically detach - take a vacation.
  6. Invest in an outside activity such as a hobby.
  7. Connect with a spiritual or cultural group.
  8. Schedule an annual confidential appointment with a psychologist to assess present demands and resources and determine the best strategies to create and maintain behavioral health.
