Nitroglycerine Class
Nitrate, Vasodilator, Antianginal
Nitroglycerine MOA
Results in dephosphorylation of myosin light chains in smooth muscle causing vasodilation and decreased preload, cardiac output, and angina.
Nitroglycerine Indications (2)
Suspected acute coronary syndrome while SBP remains greater then 90mmHg
Dyspnea with suspected CHF while SBP remains greater than 90mmHg
Nitroglycerine Contraindications (3)
Hypotension
PDE-5 inhibitors in the last 48 hours
Increased intracranial pressure
Nitroglycerine Adult Dose
0.4mg SL tablet or spray + 2 repeats q 3-5min and 1g in 1in. of paste TD
