Amiodarone Flashcards
Amiodarone Class
Antidysrhythmic
Amiodarone MOA
Blocks potassium responsible for repolarization (causing increased action potential and prolonged refractory period). Excitability is decreased, preventing reentry mechanisms and ectopic foci from perpetuating tachyarrhythmias.
Interferes with beta-adrenergic receptors, calcium channels, and sodium channels (causing decreased SA node automaticity and AV node conductivity).
Amiodarone Indications (2)
Cardiac arrest with ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia
Symptomatic (wide-complex) tachycardia with pulses
Amiodarone Contraindication
High degree AV blocks
Amiodarone Adult Cardiac Arrest Dosages
300mg IVP + 150mg IVP repeat
