Atropine Flashcards
Atropine Class
Parasympatholytic
Atropine MOA
Blocks acetylcholine receptors and direct vagolytic action, leading to parasympathetic inhibition of the smooth muscle. Allows for preexisting sympathetic stimulation to create increased cardiac output.
Antimuscarinic effect blocks parasympathetic stimulation caused by organophosphate poisoning specifically blocking hypersalivation, bronchial secretions, and bradycardia.
