Lidocaine Class
Antidysrhtythmic, Local Anesthetic
Lidocaine MOA
Sodium channel inhibitor depresses action potential in phase zero of cardiac cells, and causing anesthesia by stabilizing neuronal pathways and inhibiting nerve impulse initiation and conduction
Lidocaine Indications (3)
Cardiac arrest with VFib/VTach when Amiodarone is unavailable
Symptomatic (wide-complex) tachycardia with pulses
IO infusion pain in conscious patient
Lidoacine Contraindications (3)
Heart blocks
Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome
After using amiodarone
Lidocaine Adult Cardiac Arrest Dose
BHO 100mg IVP + 50mg IVP repeat
Lidocaine Pregnancy Class
B (no harm to animals, untested in humans)
Lidocaine Adult Symptomatic Tachycardia Dose
BHO 50mg in 50-100mL over 10min
Lidocaine Adult Conscious IO Pain Dose
50mg IO
Lidocaine Peds Cardiac Arrest Dose
BHO 1mg/kg max 100mg IVP + 0.5mg/kg max 50mg IVP repeat dose
Lidocaine Peds Symptomatic Tachycardia Dose
BHO 0.5mg/kg max 50mg in 50-100mL over 10min
