newtons law of motion Flashcards
Name the First, Second and Third Law
And what is the order for sport?
1) Law of inertia
2) Law of acceleration
3) Law of action reaction
312
Use the 3 laws to explain kicking a ball…
3) Law of action reaction = for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so when the foot hits the ball (performs a muscle contraction), the same amount of force that has been applied is sent back in the opposite direction.
1) Law of inertia - If the force is greater than the inertia of the ball (resistance to change) then the ball will move. The ball will remain still unless a force is applied. The ball will enter a state of momentum until another force is applied such as gravity or air resistance
2) Law of acceleration - force = mass x acceleration. Mass is constant so the only thing that can affect acceleration is the amount of force applied. The greater the force applied on the ball, the greater the acceleration. The force also governs direction of the ball which is provided by muscular contraction. Once the ball has left the foot and force is no longer being applied the ball then is i a constant state of momentum
