Neurodevelopmental Disorder-Motor Disorders Flashcards
Developmental Coordination Disorder
A: Acquisition & execution of coordinated motor skills is substantially below that expected of age and opportunity for skill learning, difficulties manifested as clumsiness
B: Motor skills deficit in Criteria A significantly & persistently interferes w/ activities of daily living appropriate of age
C. Onset of sx is in the early developmental period
D. Motor skills are not better explained by intellectual disability, visual impairment & not attributable to neurological condition affecting movement
Stereotypic Movement Disorder
A: Repetitive, driven and purposeless motor behavior ( hand shaking, body rocking, hand banging, self biting)
B: Repetitive motor behavior interferes w/ social, academic, other activities & may result in self-injury
C: Onset in early developmental period
D: Repetitive motor behavior not attributable to physiological effects of substance or neurological condition & other neurodevelopmental or mental disorder
Specify If: w/ or w/o self-injurious behavior
Specify If: Associated w/ a known medical or genetic condition, neurodevelopmental disorder or environmental factor
Specify severity: Mild-Sx are easily suppressed, Moderate-Sx requires explicit protective measures & behavioral modification, Severe- Continuous monitoring & protective measures are required to prevent self injury
Tic Disorders-Tourette’s Disorder
A: Multiple motor & one or more vocal tics present at some during illness but does not have to be concurrently
B: Tics may wax & war in frequency but persist for more than 1 year
C: Onset is before 18
D: Disturbance not dure to physiological effects of a substance or medical condition
Tic Disorders-Persistent (Chronic) Motor or Vocal Tic Disorder
A: Single or multiple motor or vocal tics have been present during illness but not both motor & vocal
B: Tic may wax or wane in frequency but persist for more than 1 year
C: Onset is before 18
D: Disturbance not due to physiological effects of a substance or other medical condition
E: Criteria not met for Tourette’s Disorder
Specify If: Motor tics only or vocal tics only
Tic Disorder-Provisional Tic Disorder
A: Single or multiple motor and/or vocal tics
B: Tics have been present for less than 1 year
C: Onset is before 18
D: Disturbance is not due to physiological effects of a substance or other medical condition
E: Criteria not met for Tourette’s disorder or persistent (chronic) motor or vocal tic disorder
Other Specified Tic Disorder
Sx characteristics of a tic disorder that causes clinically significant distress or impairments but do not meet the full criteria for tic disorder or any of the disorders in the neuro-developmental disorders diagnostic class. The clinician choses to communicate the specific reason
Unspecified Tic Disorder
Sx characteristic of a tic disorder that causes clinically significant distress or impairment but do not meet full criteria and that provider choses NOT to disclose why
