Neuroanatomy Flashcards
Label the lateral view of the left hemisphere
(see diagram)
What is a dorsal view of the brain?
Looking from the top
What fissure is visible from the dorsal view of the brain?
Longitudinal fissure
What is a ventral view of the brain?
Looking from the bottom (feet up)
What is a medial view of the brain?
Brain cut through corpus collosum - where cerebral hemispheres connect
What are the two parts of the nervous system? (2)
- Central nervous system
- Peripheral nervous system
What are the two parts of the central nervous system?
- Brain (within skull)
- Spinal cord (within vertebral column)
What are the two parts of the peripheral nervous system?
- Cranial nerves
- Spinal nerves
How many cranial nerves are there?
12x pairs in periphery
How many spinal nerves are there?
31x pairs in periphery

What area of the brain is supplied by the internal carotid artery?
- Anterior 2/3 of cerebral hemisphere
- Basal ganglia
What supplies the circle of Willis? (2)
- Internal caroids (anteriorly)
- Basilar artery (posteriorly)
What does the circle of Willis branch off to form? And where are their origin? (6)
- Anterior cerebral artery
- Middle cerebral artery
= FROM internal carotids - Posterior cerebral arteries
= FROM basilar artery
What area of the brain is supplied by the anterior cerebral artery? (2)
- Frontal cerebellum
- Medial cerebellum
