Signs of multiple system atrophy and how to distinguish it from parkinsons?
- Parkinsonism
- Autonomic dysfunction (e.g. impotence, atonic bladder, postural hypotension)
- CEREBELLAR SIGNS
Will have POOR response to levodopa
Signs of progressive supranuclear palsy
Starts with patients having impaired balance and therefore being prone to many falls
They will also have a vertical gaze palsy
Onset is symmetrical
POOR RESPONSE TO LEVODOPA
