What is malware short for

Give examples of social attacks include
- Bribing a user into allowing an attacker access to a system
- Putting a thumb-drive full of malware somewhere a user might pick it up and appealing them to opening it on their system
- Phoning up a user at work and convincing them to break policy and giving them the info they want
What is phishing
It involves sending out emails, instant messages or phone calls pretending to be someone in authority, they then convince them to give over valuable data
What is brute force guesswork
This is where a computer program is written to to through every possible combination of letters until the right one comes up
What is the dictionary method
It is where a user has popular word in their language as their password and can be guessed very easily via the dictionary
What is denial of service
This is a method of preventing legitimate users from connecting to a server.
How does denial of service work
It works by flooding the targeted server with millions of bogus request. There are so many requests that all the server memory and CPU cycles are used up and the server crashes
What is a passive attack/man in the middle
It is a form of eavesdropping as users are unaware that their data is being extracted
What is a SQL injection
This is a form of database attack with the aim of getting access to confidential information such as other peoples login details
