What are the cutaneous features of neonatal lupus?

A

Annular erythematous plaques

Predilection for the face, especially the periorbital region and scalp

Photosensitive

Resolve without scarring
- Dyspigmentation can cont for months.

What are the assocations with neonatal lupus?

A

Congenital heart block (+/- cardiomyopathy)
- almost always present by birth, but on rare occasions has developed after birth

Hepatobiliary disease
- can vary in severity
- liver failure during gestation or in the neonatal period
- conjugated hyperbilirubinemia during the first few weeks of life –> mild elevations of aminotransferases at 2–3 months of life.

Cytopenias
- thrombocytopaenia

Hydrocephalus, microangiopathic haemolysis, and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
