Acute inflammatory disease, predominantly affected preterm infants, that leads to bowel necrosis, multi system organ failure and death

Risk factors
A
- Preterm or low birth weight - biggest factor
- Congenital heart disease
- Antibiotic treatment
- Enteral feeding

CLINICAL FEATURES
Presentation
A
- Typically within first 2 weeks life
- New feed intolerance
- Vomiting (may be bilous)
- Haematochezia (fresh blood in stools)
