Definition of NBT
-Tests that are intended to measure a student’s level of skill to see if they will cope with their studies
Purpose
They are designed to measure a writer’s ability to transfer understanding of Academic Literacy, Qualitative literacy and Math to the demands of the tertiary coursework

-Being able to discuss and analyse formal, academic and subject-specific jargon
-It allows academically literate individuals to productively contribute to ongoing conversations within the specific academic fields
Quantitative literacy
Targets a writer’s ability to manage situations or solve problems in a real context that is relevant to higher education study

Basic mathematical applications relative to the subject of interests
How to prepare for NBTs
-ID document or passport
-Determine the NBT’s requirements from the institution where you plan to study
-Seek online tips on NBT
-Allow 4 weeks to receive results
-Know the location where it will be written
-Mention TWO reasons why NBT’s it’s important in the university application process.
-They decide if a learner’s university application is successful or not
-They will see whether or not they are academically ready for the university standard.
Suggest TWO practical actions learners could take to improve their chances of receiving a bursary for tertiary education.
-Join societies that help the needy or get involved in community service so that the company can see you are caring and deserving of the bursary.
-You can do skills-based training, job-shadowing/work experience so that
they can see that you are serious about your career
