Human rights
-Rights that everyone must enjoy just because they are human beings
-They are based on common values such as dignity and equality
The six Human rights
-Privacy
-Dignity
-Equity
-Freedom of speech and expression
-Information
-Safety
Privacy
Peoples information should be kept confidential and their property should be respected
Dignity
Everyone has the right to be treated with respect and have their dignity be protected
Equity
People must be equal in rights, status and advantages and be treated as such in the workplace
Freedom of speech and expression
Everybody has the right to express their opinion and should not be punished or discriminated against for voicing it
Information
Everyone should have access to information that concerns them including all information held by employers, the government and other stakeholders
Safety and protection of life
People have the right to an environment that is not harmful to their health and the proper gear to protect their health and safety
Ways to deal with privacy in the workplace
-Businesses must respect the rights of employees and clients and may not violate them
-The business must keep any information on chronic illnesses of its employees confidential
Ways to deal with dignity in the workplace
-Businesses must value their employees regardless of their socio-economic status and treat all employees with respect and dignity
-Workers should not be forced to do embarrassing or degrading work
Ways to deal with equity
-The business must ensure that its workers receive equal pay for work of the same value
-Managers should ensure that no employee suffers because of discrimination
Ways to deal with freedom of speech and expression
-Businesses should allow open communication channels between management and employees
-The employee has the right to express her opinion and should not be punished or discriminated against for raising their opinion
Ways to deal with information in the workplace
-When new information becomes available, the business should inform employees about it
-Employees must receive information on the CSI projects of the business and how they will affect them
