Navigation Flashcards
From SPV Slide deck as of April 2019
What happens when you press either
guarded NAV key on RMP 1 or 2?
Returns control of the NAV radios to the FMGC
Turns off the green light
After pressing either guarded NAV key
on RMP 1 or RNP 2,
what happens if you press the NAV key a second time?
Returns control of the NAV radios to the FMGC
Why would you press the guarded
NAV p/b on an RMP?
DUAL MCDU/FMGC FAILURE
When using STBY NAV, how would you change a VHF 1 radio frequency?
Select VHF 1 key
Enter new frequency in STBY
Transfer frequency to ACTIVE
(Do not turn OFF the NAV key)
What does the magenta dot at KARRS indicate?
The point when managed speed will initiate a change to meet a speed limit, speed constraint, or holding speed
What does the magenta symbol
just past BOTON indicate?
The level off point for a descent due to a constraint entered in the MCDU
What do the blue symbols at HOGGS indicate?
Intercept the vertical profile and continue the managed descent
In cruise you are painting an area of weather 35NM ahead. With the radar panel and EFIS panel set as shown below, would you be able to identify turbulence in the area of weather?
YES. Turbulence is depicted in magenta only within 40 nm (selected Range not a factor)
Flying at night around thunderstorms,
what control is used to adjust the brightness level
of the weather depiction on your ND?
Outer ND brightness knob
How does positioning the GAIN knob slightly (clockwise) out of the AUTO position affect display of radar returns on the ND?
Gain would then be manually set to MINIMUM (this would be potentially dangerous)
Assume that:
Radar system was selected OFF
WINDSHEAR was selected to AUTO.
Windshear is predicted ahead of your flight path.
Will you receive a Predictive Windshear alert?
Yes, Predictive windshearfunction is activated even if Weather Radar transceiver selector is in the OFF position
Which portion of the
system (ADR or IR)
provides Attitude and
Heading
information?
Inertial Reference
When will the ON BAT light illuminate?
Illuminates amber when one or more IR(s) is supplied only by the aircraft battery, or comes on for a few seconds as a test at the beginning of a full alignment
What external indication(s) will alert personnel that the IR’s are ON BAT ?
An external horn sounds, ADIRU-AVNCS BLUE LIGHT illuminates on EXTERNAL POWER panel, except during test
What does a flashing amber IR FAULT light
indicate?
Attitude and heading may be recovered in ATT Mode
(Fault in IR)
