Why is septal haematoma an emergency?

• As cartilage has no blood supply of its own, it relies on oxygen and nutrients diffusing from blood vessels in surrounding perichondirum
• As haematoma between these two structures, can result in destruction of septum and therefore deformity of nose
• Can also lead to septal infection

What is the management of a nose fracture?

• Manipulation if happened within 1-3weeks

* Outpatient manipulation under anaesthesia
