- cardiac: heart
- skeletal: attached to the bone
- smooth: lining of blood vessels

Palms up, moving elbows
Supination
Palms down, moving elbows
Pronation
Toes up
Dorsiflexion
Toes down like a ballerina
Plantar flexion
Toe towards midline
Inversion
Toes away from midline
Exversion
Pins in the bone and it’s on the outside of the body
External fixator
All done inside with pins, brackets, plates, etc.
Internal fixator
Pulleys and weights
Traction
Numbness (paresthesia), pain, tingling

How to assess muscle strength
Have pt push and pull against force
Unable to contract muscle
0 muscle strength
Able to contract muscle slightly
1 on muscle strength
