Muscle Structure Flashcards
Myofilaments
Made of contractile protiens actin and myosin
Muscle fibers
Elongated cells called fibers, inside fascile
Sarcolemma
Cell membrane on the outside of muscle cell
Sarcoplasm
Cytoplasm of muscle cells
Epimysium
Connective tissue that wraps around the entire muscle bundle
Fasicle
Bundle of muscle cells
Perimysium
Connective tissue wrapping around fascicle
Endomysium
Connective tissue wrapping around the muscle fiber
Sacromere
Segment of a myofibril between 2 discs
Myofibrils
Composed of myofilaments and is inside muscle fiber
Actin
Thin myofilament
Myosin
Thick myosin
Sarcoplasmic reticulum
Surrounds each myofibrils, regulates the intercellular calcium levels
T tubules
Transverse tubules, allows extracellular fluid to move throughout the fiber
