Opening mouth and sliding lower jaw left and right
Zygomaticus major
Draws angle of the mouth upward and laterally, smiling
Orbicularis oris
Shaping of lips like during speech
Buccinator
Lateral movement of cheeks, like sucking on straws, compress air in mouth while blowing
Risorius
Draws angle of mouth laterally, expressing horror
Mentalis
Elevates and protrudes lower lip and skin of the chin
Extrinsic eye muscles
Move the eyeball and they originate from the bones of the orbit and insert onto the outer surface of the white of the eye
Superior rectus
Moves eyes up and toward nose
Inferior rectus
Moves eyes down and toward nose
Lateral rectus
Move eyes away from nose
Medial rectus
Moves eyes toward nose
Inferior oblique

Levator palpabrae superioris
Opens eyes
Orbicularis oculi
Closes eyelids
Masseter
Closes mouth and aids chewing, elevates
Temporalis
Closes mouth, pulls lower jaw in under upper jaw, elevates and retracts
Lateral pterygoid
Opens mouth, pushes lower jaw out under upper jaw, moves lower jaw side to side, depressor
Medial pterygoid
Closes mouth, pushes lower jaw out under upper jaw, moves jaw upper side to side
Glenioglossus
Draws tongue to one side, depresses midline of tongue or protrudes it
Styloglossus
Draws tongue upward and posteriorly
hyoglossus
depress tongue
palatoglossus
elevates roof of tongue, closes oral cavity from pharynx

Rotates and tilts head, tilts head forward
Semispinalis capitis
Rotates and tilts head backward
Spelnius capitis
Rotates and tilts head to the side, tilts head backward
Longissiumus capitis
Rotates and tilts head to the side, tilts head backwards
Moves scapulae = superficial
Trapezius
Both elevates and depresses shoulder, retracts scapula and extends head
Latissimus dorsi
Adducts, extends, and medially rotates arm
Levator scapulae
Elevated and adducts scapula
Rhomboid major and minor
Elevates and adducts scapula
Levatores costarum
Raises ribs in inspiration

Raises ribs in inspiration
Serratus posterior inferior
Lower ribs in expiration
Deep muscles= move back flexion and extension
Splenius
Extend neck and head
connects to skull, capitis
cervicis connects to vertebrae
Erector spinae
illiocostalis, longissimus, spinalis
extend trunk and vertebral column
Transverso-spinalis
Semispinalis, multifidus and rotatores
Extend trunk and bilateral action and rotate vertebral column in unilateral action
Extrinsic back muscles
Trapezius, levator scapulae, rhomboid minor and major, latissimus dorsi and serratous posterior
Intrinsic back muscles
Splenius cavitis and cervicis, erector spinae (illiocostalis, longissimus, spinalis)

Twisting at waist
Transversus abdominus
Squeezing abdomen during forceful exhalations, defecation, urination and childbirth
Rectus abdominis
Sitting up
Quadratus lumborum
Bending to the side
Diaphragm
Inhalation and exhalation, in between cervitis and thoracis cavities
External intercostals
Helps with inhalation with ribs
Internal intercostals
It was forced exhalation with ribs
Levator ani pubococcygeus and ani iliococcygeus
Compresses anal canal, defacation, urination, birth, coughing
Superficial transverse perineal
Only supports perineal body maintaining anus at center of perineum
Bulbospongiosus
Involuntary response, compress urethra when excreting urine in both sexes, ejaculation and erection in males
Ischiocavernosus
Compresses veins to maintain erection of penis in males, erection of clitoris in females
External urethral sphincter
Voluntary compresses urethra during urination
External anal sphincter
Closes anus
Subclavius
Stabilizes clavicle during movement by depressing it
