Motorbehavior Flashcards
What are the three areas of motorbehaviour
- > motor learning
- > motor development
- > motor control
What is the study of motor behaviour
the study of how motor skills are learned, controlled and developed across lifespan
which sensory systems (body systems) are used for motor control
- > vision
- > vestibular (inner ear fluid)
- > muscle receptors
which sensory systems are used
- > where items are (extroception)
- > where our body is relative to the environment (exproprioception)
- > where are our body parts and how are they configured
(proprioception)
what is motor control
body and limb coordination essential to perform motor skills
Learning
acquisition of knowledge or skill through experience, study or being taught
what is the goal of studying motor control
to help explain how our nervous system preforms and coordinates
what is the goal of studying motor learning
help explain the processes in the brain that occur in response to practice/experience of a certain skill resulting in changes in the nervous system that allow for production of a new motor skill
What are the stages of learning
- Cognitive stage of learning (introduction to a skill)
- Associative stage of learning (conscious decisions become automatic)
- Autonomous stage of learning (nearly automatic performance; skill occurs naturally)
