ALS
Corticopinal tracts and Ant. Gray columns of the spinal cord
progressive muscular atrophy, paresis, and fasiculations are superimposed on the signs and symptoms of UMN disease with paresis, spasticity, and Babinski response
Subacute Combined degeneration
Deficiency of vitamin B 12 results in pernicious anemia as well as degenerative changes in the dorsal and lateral funiculi of the spinal cord.
These patients have defects in both sensory and motor function.
Poliomyelitis
Acute viral infection of the neurons of the anterior gray columns and the motor nuclei of the cranial nerves.
The muscles of the lower limb are more often affected than the muscles of the upper limb.
Brown Sequard Syndrome
Same side : UMD weakness
Loss of position & vibration
Side Opposite: Loss of pain & temp.
Caused by fracture dislocation of the vertebral column, bullet, stab wound or expanding tumor
