Alleviates pain by acting on the pain receptors in the brain, elevates pain threshold.

Indications and Field Use
A
Analgesia, Pulmonary Edema (cardiogenic) increases venous capacitance resulting in blood pooling away from heart lungs, used to alleviate preload and afterload prior to effects of Lasix

A
Respiratory Depression, Elevated ICP, Abdominal Pain

Adult Dosage
A
1-3mg increments slow IVP over 1-5min until desired effect, MR q5’ titrate to effect or physiological changes.
Dilute 1mg MSO4 in 9mL NS in 10mL syringe, making 1mg=1mL
