More muscles Flashcards
Adductor Longus
medial side of femur (inside leg)
adduction of leg
Biceps femoris
- anchored on ischium
– Inserts below knee
– Hip extension
– Knee flexion
– Back of femur
Semitendinosus
– Over membranosis
– Back of femur
– Hip extension
– Knee flexion
Semimembranosus
– Underneath tendinosis
– Hip extension
– Knee flexion
– Back of femur
Sartorius
– Hip flexion – knee flexion – lateral rotation
– Longest muscle we have
– Across over thigh
Rectus femoris
– Originates just above hip joint
– Inserts by knee – extension of knee
– Flexion of hip
– Opposite of hamstring – kicking muscle
– Quadriceps
vastus lateralis
– On side of femur
– Quadriceps
– Knee extension
Vastus medialis
– Opposite side of femur
– Knee extension
– Quadriceps
Vastus intermedius
– Gets covered by rectus femoris
– Quadriceps
– Knee extension
Tibialis anterior
– Tibia – front of lower leg
– Dorsilflexion
– Over ankle joint
Gastrocnemius
– One of two calf muscles
– Of two joints
– Anchor just above knee – attaches to Achilles tendon
– Plantar flexion
– Knee flexion
Soleus
– Only does plantar flexion
– Behind gastrocnemius
