more CP (patho) Flashcards
Chronic hypoxia
causes decreased sensitivity of central chemoreceptors to CO2, now only responds to O2 levels, so if given O2 therapy, it may decrease RR. (normally decreases RR when CO2 is high)
squamous cell carcinoma
cigarette smoking, centrally located
late metastasis
adenocarcinoma
more peripheral, invades blood and lymph
early metastasis
large cell carcinoma
spreads early and extensively
small cell carcinoma
worst one to have, “oat seed”. early metastasis, worst prognosis
Horner’s syndrome
SNS disorder, miosis, ptosis, and loss of sweating on one side of the face
Metastatic lung cancers are much more common than primary lung cancers
