Child birth…
OB kit
Place towels/sheets around delivery area
Elevate pt/s hips
Place the 3 sterile sheets under butt towards feet, under back draped over thighs, draped across abdomen
Support head as it comes out
Feel neck to make sure that cord is not wrapped around neck
Suction fluid from mouth first and then the nose
Don’t pull, but help the baby deliver
Support the baby firmly but gently
Once baby is delivered, keep neck in neutral position
Place clamps on umbilical cord 2-4” apart and about 4 finger widths from the infant’s body
HR should be breathing quickly and HR should be over 120
If not breathing suction mouth and nose again and try flicking feet and aim blowby oxygen towards face
Wrap baby to keep warm

Signs/symptoms of heat related injury…
Muscle spazms, cramps
Heat exhaustion- Light headed, dizzy, AMS, thirst, rapid heart rate, cool clammy skin, elevated temperature, weakness, nausea/vomiting.
Heat stroke- For sure AMS, fainting, seizure, hot red dry skin, NO MORE SWEATING, very elevated temperature
Treatment of heat related injury…
Remove pt from hot environment. Actively cool with ice packs to groin and armpits. Administer high flow O2. Wet towels with cool water and place on pt. Fan pt. Medics will administer IV fluids
Signs/symptoms cold related injury…
93-95 Shivering. Rapid breathing. Withdrawn LOC. Rapid HR. Loss of coordination
89-92 Slowing respirations, slow pulse, confused, lethargic, sleepy, muscle stiffness
80-88
