What are the 3 pathways light goes through to get in our eyes?
Cornea, pupil, iris
What is the blind spot?
An area of missing information in our field of vision
What are the differences between rods and cones
Rods help us see black and white in our peripheral view while cones help us see colorful detail
What is the 3 color theory?
There are 3 types of color receptor cones-red, blue, and green
What is parallel processing?
Building perceptions out of sensory details processing in different areas of the brain
What are the 3 gestalts?
Proximity, continuity, and closure
What is interposition?
When one object appears to block the view of another
What is relative size?
The ability to interpret familiar objects as farther away when they appear smaller
What is relative height?
The perception that the higher part of a scene is farther away
What is size constancy?
The ability to use distance related context to help us see objects as the same size even if the image on the retina becomes smaller
What are 3 types of extrasensory perception(ESP)?
Telepathy (reading), clairvoyance (seeing), precognition (knowing)
How were Kant and Locke’s views different?
Kant believed you were born with your abilities, Locke believed they were learned
