Cortex- stromal cells (support to developing ova) and follicles
Medulla- vascular
What hormones act on the ovary?
FSH- stimulates follicle development
LH- stimulates ovulation
What are the different components of the uterus?
Fundus
Body
Cervix
What are the layers of the fundus and body?
Myometrium- muscle
Endometrium- simple columnar with simple tubular glands
What type of epithelium is in the cervix?
Endocervical canal- simple columnar secretes mucin
Stratified, squamous, non keratinizing covers the cervix
What are the segments of the Fallopian tubes?
Infundibulum
Ampulla

Intramural
What is the epithelium of the Fallopian tubes?
Muscular
Tall columnar ciliated and secretory cells
What types of glands are in breast tissue?
Compound tubuloacinar surrounded by simple columnar or cuboidal epithelium
What is the thick fibrocollagenous capsule surrounding the testes?
Tunica albuginea
What makes up the duct system of the testes?
Efferent ducts
Epididymis
Vas deferens
Ejaculatory duct
What is the function of the seminiferous tubules?
Sperm production
What cells are present in the seminiferous tubules?
Germinal epithelium mixed with sertoli/nurse cells
Leydig cells- secrete testosterone
Myoid cells- contractile
Basal layer- spermatogonia
What type of epithelium does the vas deferens have?
Psuedostratified columnar epithelium with stereocilia
What are the characteristics of the prostate?
Produces fluid that transports sperm
Branch tubuloacinar glands
Psuedostratified or tall columnar epithelium
What type of epithelium is the prostatic urethra?
Transitional
