Mitosis Flashcards
name the phase a cell is in before mitosis takes place
interphase
nam the 4 cases of mitosis
prophase
metaphase
anaphase
telophase
why do cells under go mitosis
for growth
repair
asexual reproduction
what happens in prophase
the nuclear membrane disappears
the nucleolus disappears
the centrosome splits into two centrioles
there a visible chromosomes
what does metaphase send for
middle
what happens in metaphase
centrioles are at opp poles
chromosomes align at the equator
centrioles form spindle fibres which attach to the centromere
what does anaphase stand for
away
what happens in anaphase
spindel fibres contract
the centromere splits
one copy of each chromosome is pulled to opposite poles
what happens in telophase
cytokinesis takes place
is the vision of the cytoplasm to form two identical cells (daughter cells)
how does cytokinesis take place in animals and plants
animals -the cytoplasm constricts (pinchestoghter) forming a cleavage furrow at the equator of the cell.
in late telophase it deepens to divide the cytoplasm into two identical cells each with its own nucleus
how does cytokinesis take place in plants
in plants a cell plate form between the two nuclei , which divides the cell into two identical cells. the cell plate becomes the new middle lamella
