animal organelle Flashcards
what are vesicles
vesicles are small vacuoles
what kind of vesicles and vacuoles does as animal cell have
they have vesicles and vacuoles that are much smaller that plant vacuole
what re vacuoles
they are fluid filled organelle surrounded by a membrane known as the tonoplast
what is the fluid in the vacuole known as
and what does this mainly consist of
it is know as a cell sap which is mainly water with solutes and pigment dissolved in it
List the function of vacuole
Function:
• provides turgidity to plant cells
• regulates the water content of cells
• pigments in the vacuole gives colour to some
flowers
• stores solutes, such as minerals
Lysosomes
What is the structure
Lysosomes are tiny sacs formed from vesicles produced by the Golgi body.
Lysosomes contain enzymes that can break down lipids and proteins.
What is the function
Lysosomes destroy foreign material inside or outside cells, such as bacteria.
They digest (break down) food particles.
They break down dead cells and cell organelles
Name another organelle found inly in animals
Centrosome
