Push: Unattractive things or repellant reasons
Pull: Attractive
What’s a migrant and an internal migrant?
Migrant: A person who moves from one place to another
Internal migrant: person moves within their own country
Immigrant and Emmigrant
Immigrant: A person who moves into a county
Emmigrant: A person who moves out of a country
Refugee
A person who gets special permission to live in a country because of persecution
Asylum seeker
An immigrant who apples for permission to be accepted as a refugee
Individual migration: from the west of ireland

Individual migration- movement of people by themselves
-Mr.Harrington moved from the west of Ireland to Dublin for work
-His sisters moved to Boston for jobs and opportunities
-One brother stayed and minded the farm
Push: bad social life, no work
Pull: jobs and opportunities, social life
Barrier: money, getting a visa
Organized migrations- Ulster Plantations

Organised migration: group moves bc of planning and organisation of government
The king of England too ulster away from Ireland to plant people and spread culture, religion, way of life etc
Push: Irish could attack
Pull: power, rich land, money
Barrier: hard to get to
Results: loss of Irish culture and language, religious divisions
High population density- Hong Kong

-Overcrowding: small homes, high rise apartments
-pollution: visual, air, noise pollution
-lack of clean water: toilet waste in water and sea
-lack of open space: stacked graves, industries on polders
Push: too busy, lack of open space
Pull: job opportunities, good services

-low marriage rates: young people migrate
