- maintain hydration, sleep and exercise
- avoid chocolate and wine
- relax
- stop triggers
Acute migraine treatment
- Aspirin
- ibuprofen
- 5HT1-receptor agonists (triptans)
Migraine with Aura and Triptans
Triptans should be taken at start of migraine not aura
Triptan repeating doses
If a triptan is taken and there is a slight response
==> a 2nd dose can be taken 2 hours after
(in naratriptan it is 4 hours)

Anti-emetics
- Prochlorperazine

What is a cluster headache
intense pain in or around eye

- Nasal Sumatriptan

severe facial pain, electric like in jaw, teeth or gums
