Shifting weights to increase strength of muscles using a programme of repetitions and sets
What are repetitions?
The number of times you lift a weight (4-30)
What are sets?
Groups of repetitions (normally 3)
Benefits of weight training?
- Increase metabolism for 24 hours
- Increase muscular strength and endurance
- Can be used to benefit most sports
Disadvantages of weight training?
- Need specialist equipment - expensive
- Decrease flexibility
- Needs planning
