  1. DKA
  2. Renal Failure
  3. Diarrhea, vomiting
  4. Shock
  5. Severe sepsis
  6. Liver failure
  7. Young women who abuse laxatives or extreme diet restriction
  8. Salicylate intoxication

  1. Monitor I and O, VS, RR, LOC
  2. Admin. IV fluids carefully
  3. Position to open up chest
  4. Oral care for dry mouth and vomiting
