Mesodermal (connective tissue) tumors Flashcards
What tumor? Radiographically lucent to mixed lucent/opaque. Pathology delicate fibrillar stroma of collagen containing fibroblasts
Central Odontogenic Fibroma
What Tx for Central Odontogenic Fibroma?
Surgical removal
What tumor? Young patient with reactive gingival lesion of PDL origin in anterior gingiva. Pathology: cellular fibrous connective tissue with calcifications, bone, cementum
Peripheral Odontogenic Fibroma
What tumor? Young patient, asymptomatic, expansion, radiographically lucency often containing residual opaque trabeculae
Odontogenic Myxoma
What Tx for Odontogenic myxoma?
block resection
What cementum lesion? Adult, female, black, mandible, asymptomatic, expansion, well circumscribed, around tooth root, completely lucent to mixed to mostly opaque, of PDL origin
central cemento-ossifying fibroma
What Tx for Central Cemento-Ossifying Fibroma?
Enucleation
What cementum lesion? 20-40, mandible (esp. 1st molar), pain and/or expansion, tooth vital or condensing osteitis - non vital, sclerotic mass with peripheral radiolucent zone fused with tooth root
benign cementoblastoma
What cementum lesion? autosomal dominant, mutliquadrant globular opacities with no Tx.
Gigantiform cementoma
