Membrane receptors Flashcards
What are the 4 main types of membrane receptor?
Ligand gated ion channels
Tyrosine kinase receptors
Granulate cyclase receptors
G protein coupled receptors
When are ligand gated ion channels seen?
Generally mediate fast responses
What are examples of ligand gated ion channels?
Nicotinic acetylcholine
GABA A and GABA C
Glutamate receptors
What are the types of tyrosine kinase receptors
Receptor tyrosine kinase
Non receptor tyrosine kinase
What are examples of receptor tyrosine kinase?
Insulin
Insulin like growth factor
Epidermal growth factor
What are examples of non receptor tyrosine kinase?
PIGGET
Prolactin
Immunomodulators (IL2, IL6, IFN)
Growth hormone
G-CSF
Erythropoietin
Thrombopoetin
What are examples of granulate cyclase receptors?
ANP
BNP
Where are G protein coupled receptors generally seen?
Mediate slow transmission and affect metabolic processes
What are the types of G proteins?
Gs
Gi
Gq
What is the mechanism of Gs?
Stimulated adenylate cyclase –> increases cAMP –> activated protein kinase A
What is the mechanism of Gi?
Inhibits adenylate cyclase –> decreased cAMP –> inhibits protein kinase A
What is the mechanism of Gq?
Activated phospholipase C –> activated protein kinase C
What are examples of Gs protein coupled receptors?
Beta 1 receptors (adrenaline, noradrenaline, dobutamine)
Beta 2 receptors (adrenaline)
H2 receptors (histamine)
D1 receptors (dopamine)
V2 receptos (vasopressin)
Receptors for ACTH, LH, FSH, glucagon, PTH, calcitonin, prostaglandins
What are examples of Gi protein coupled receptors?
M2 receptors (acetylcholine)
Alpha 2 receptors (adrenaline, noradrenaline)
D2 receptors (dopamine)
GABA-B
What are examples of Gq protein coupled receptors?
Alpha 1 receptors (adrenaline, noradrenaline)
H1 receptors (histamine)
V1 receptos (vasopressin)
M1 and M3 receptors (acetylcholine)
