Membrane, organelles and inclusions Flashcards
Cell membrane is known as
Plasmalemma
what is the bimolecular layer of cell membrane made up of
amphipathic phospholipid molecules, w/ hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail
properties of the cell membrane
fluid(easily change shape)
selectively permeable
can undergo endocytosis and exocytosis
Cell membrane contains many types of protein such as
integral, peripheral, receptor, transporter, channel, cell attachment
Plasmalemma also contains non-protein molecules such as
lipids, carbohydrates
what is meant when its said that the cell can endocytose and exocytose
it can secrete and uptake molecules from within and out with the cell through the cell membrane
what is and organelle and where is it found
a small organ in the cell, essential to life found intracellular
what is an inclusion and where is it found
a disposable molecule that may only be transient, found within the cell
where do inclusions come from
can be synthesised within the cell or taken from extracellular environment
examples of organelles
mitochondria, nucleus, Golgi apparatus etc.
examples of inclusions
pigment, glycogen stores
